AN EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW WITH CARA LOTT - 80'S PORN STAR! Cara Lott was a certifiable porn star of the 80s - a sexy blonde with a great ass, wide-jawed face and perfectly round tits. She's made movies with or been on the set with porn stars like Ginger Lynn, Kay Parker, Erica Boyer, Randy West, Peter North, Hershel Savage, Harry Reems, Bud Lee, Jamie Gillis, Vanessa Del Rio, Debi Diamond, Sharon Mitchell, Gloria Leonard, Seka, Christy Canyon, Janette Littledove, and the list goes on and on. She had a reputation as one of the most energetic and skilled oral sexers of the decade, and she demonstrated her mouth-watering talents in virtually every flick she appeared in. When she played with the girls, she was equally as hot. One of the hottest lesbo scenes appeared in "Shave-Tail" by Ambassador Video. Cara's scene with Aurora and Erica Boyer made every guy pound their pud after watching these girls shave one another and then lap it up between the legs. Yep! Cara and the girls got their kicks by performing razor tricks.
Cara made over 200 videos during her film span. Some of those included Frisky Business, Striptease, Girls of Sin, Foreplay, Scent of a Wild Woman, Scandals: Cara Lott, Blondes on Fire, Backstage Pass, Wicked Wenches, Taboo 2, Leather & Lace, Trashy Lady and Untamed. She's still untamed to this very day in Southern California. In December I caught up with Cara by phone to find out how she's doing today. What happens to someone after retirement from porn? What does she think about the business today? What line of work did she pursue after leaving the cameras and hard dicks behind? Here's my exclusive interview with Cara Lott. ~ By Rick Ryan Rick: Where were you originally born and raised? Cara: I was born and raised in Huntington Beach, California. Rick: What kind of student were you in school? Cara: High school wasn't much of a challenge; I got bored and didn't attend much. Needless to say I didn't get very good grades. However, upon attending college I found the curriculum to be far more stimulating and became an "A" student. Rick: Did you have any aspirations while in school? Cara: During my last year of high school I took an interest in A.R.C. welding and aspired to become an A.R.C. welder on the Alaska pipeline L.O.L. I transferred to a college-welding course and it was at that time I became involved in the adult industry and put my college education on hold. Thirteen years later I went back to college but changed majors. This time I was to become an R.N. and graduated with a Bachelor degree in Science and Nursing. Rick: After graduating, what did you do? Cara: I went straight into nursing and found I hated working in the health care field. It was very depressing and I felt I wasn't treated with the respect that I had worked so hard to earn. I then turned my attention to the dental field and became a Registered Dental Hygienist. Unfortunately, I found that my talents were unappreciated in this field as well and decided to go back to the career that I was most happy and fulfilled at doing, the adult industry. Rick: How did you enter the adult entertainment world? Cara: On my eighteenth birthday I had a friend take a Polaroid photo of me in lingerie. I sent it to Hustler Magazine with the hopes of having it published in the "Beaver Hunt" contest section. They were offering a fifty-dollar first place cash prize, which would have helped pay for my college books at the time. Within a few weeks Hustler Magazine contacted me. Instead of using me in the "Beaver Hunt" they wanted to photograph me for the Centerfold at fifteen hundred dollars! Despite discouragement from significant others, I posed for the centerfold anyway. While working at Hustler Studios I met another XXX adult film star A.K.A. Kelly Nichols, she gave me the number to the "World Modeling Agency". I went for an interview and met several photographers, within a few days I was posing for XXX magazines. Rick: What inspired you to do movies?
Cara: For some reason I was always fascinated with adult movies and came to find that the World Modeling agency supplied almost all the actors and actresses for most of the XXX movies seen in theaters (back then) and today in videos and on popular cable TV channels such as "Playboy" and "Spice". I definitely wanted to be a part of that and begged my agent to book me on a movie, which he did, the rest is history.Rick: How did you feel the first time you took your clothes off for a photo shoot? Cara: I felt very comfortable. The people at Hustler Studios were very professional and since I had always felt comfortable being nude it was a very pleasant experience. Rick: What was it like the first time you shot a porn movie? Cara: I was a bit confused at first. The set was quite hectic; there were people running around setting up lights and cameras, there were models getting their hair and makeup done, I didn't know where to go or what to do first. I was handed a shooting schedule and a script and told to get into makeup. When I finally got on the set I was a little nervous only because I had never been in front of a camera before. Once the camera started rolling everything just fell into place and instinct took over. I guess you could say I was a natural! Rick: Do you have a favorite movie from the 200 or more that you made? Cara: Most of the films I worked on were given working titles while in production and the titles often changed when they were published so it's difficult to name a specific movie. However, I did star in a movie called Bi-Coastal which I was nominated for best actress for, it wasn't too bad. I can honestly say though that most of the movies that I did work on were, for the most part, positive experiences. Rick: Did you have a favorite male and female actor you preferred working with in the industry? Cara: Randy West was my favorite male actor mostly because he wasn't "oversized" like most male actors. Remember guys, "its not the quantity, it's the quality" besides he was a nice guy. As for females actresses, I liked Erica Boyer, she was sooo sweet yet sooo nasty! Rick: What companies did you shoot for? Cara: After being in the business for 13 years (total), I imagine that I've shot for all of them; VCA, Vivid, etc. just to name a few. Rick: Your career spanned 10 years from 1981 through 1991. You came back in 1997 and 1998 again. What was it like doing movies as an older woman, compared to most young starlets in the industry? Cara: Well, after being in college for seven years and not being able to work out as much as I would have liked to, I certainly didn't have the stamina or flexibly of the younger gals. After doing my first comeback movie I remember how sore my "acrobatic sex" muscles were. After all, I hadn't used them in a while. I was also a little concerned with my age, 37 at the time. All of the men and women I was working with were in their 20's. After being reassured by the young studs I was to be working with I looked great (and by the size of their boners) I felt much more confidant. Rick: Would you ever go back again to film more? Cara: Maybe, it just depends on the quality of the production and the pay of course. I'd also be interested to know what type of part a 43 year-old woman like myself would play. The only part I can think of is the part of "Mother" or worse, "Grandma"! I'm not sure if I'll ever be ready to be a mom, let alone a grandmother. Rick: What are you doing today?
Cara: Mostly escort work. I love meeting my fans especially one-on-one, so don't be shy and give me a call at (949) 737-9301 if you'd like to meet me in person. Or check out my website at
www.caralott.com. Every once in a while I'll pop in at one of the Adultcon conventions or make a guest appearance. I recently appeared on Pamela Peaks cooking show, a sexy nude cooking comedy, which airs every Sat. at 11:30p.m. on channel 25 (local L.A. only) or log onto
www.pamelapeaks.com for more info. I 'm also planning to attend the Erotica LA convention next year as well, see you all there!Rick: When you are not working, what kinds of things do you do to pass the time away? Cara: Endless housework, at least that's the way it seems. I do get out-and-about though on the weekends, beats going to the gym. Some of the things I enjoy doing are surfing, Rollerblading, swimming, hiking, skiing, kayaking, hunting, fishing and nude sun-bathing, just to name a few. Rick: What kind of music do you enjoy listening to? Cara: I love listening to just about everything, from classical to extreme alternative. I especially like electronica and the new techno rock/rap fusions. What I enjoy listening to also depends on what I'm doing at the time. For example, I enjoy having sex to smooth jazz or blues. Rick: You went to college after you dropped out of the industry the first time. What did you study and complete? Cara: I studied health/dental sciences. I graduated with a Bachelor degree in Science and Nursing. My accomplishments/titles are as follows: Registered nurse (R.N.), registered dental assistant (R.D.A.) + certified dental x-ray tech., and registered dental hygienist (R.D.H.). I guess you could say I was very orally inclined! Rick: How do you feel about the industry today? Cara: It's far different than when I was active in the business, maybe even a little scarier with A.I.D.S being a concern these days. It's also a lot more competitive because now there are so many more people involved in the industry. When I was in the business it was a much smaller more intimate group of people (no pun intended). Rick: On world issues, what do you think about the adult Internet, prostitution, and the gay issue on marriage? Cara: I love the adult Internet! Even though I've been officially out of the business for years it is still possible for me to stay connected to it via the Internet. I think this is true for a lot of the classic stars of the 70s, 80's and 90's. Most of us probably would have faded away into obscurity and some of our old fans would still be wondering, "Whatever happened to so-and-so". Now we all have a way of staying in touch and in some cases restarting our careers in the adult industry. In fact, when I posted my website for the first time I was amazed at how many people found me through the search engines, happy to know that I was still alive, well and available. As for prostitution, I think that if it's between two consenting adults with no coercion or exploitation, practicing safe sex, what's the problem? I guess that's why it's been called a victimless crime although most religious types would disagree saying, "It destroys families and morals". During my years at college I wrote a paper on prostitution for a sociology class. As part of my research I conducted interviews with several prostitutes and their clients. I don't know how many times clients of prostitutes told me that occasionally seeing a working girl saved their marriages saying that if it weren't for them (prostitutes) they'd be divorced right now and chasing after their secretaries instead of hiring a prostitute to relieve their sexual frustrations". Equally the prostitutes I interviewed told me that they felt good about their careers in that they felt they were keeping marriages and families together as well! As for morals, I couldn't even guess at how many of their clients those "religious types" are. The gay issue on marriage? Well, it is my belief that if two people are in love they should be able to marry and receive all the benefits that a union of this type brings. There are so many legal issues such as health care benefits, child care, wills and death benefits to be considered, for example: what if a gay couple were to adopt children and then they became estranged, how would legal visitation be arranged? Or if a gay couple was together for 20 years, one worked and the other took care of the household and/or children and the breadwinner died, would the survivor have any rights to their property? What about the children? I can't think of any way a gay marriage could hurt our uptight puritanical society, so what's the harm? Rick: What does Cara have planned for the future? Cara: It's hard to say for sure at this point, but I'm really thinking about going back to school to pursue my real passion, environmental sciences, or apply the knowledge I already possess in the health sciences to an allied health field like fitness and nutrition. I need to get off my butt and talk with a counselor so I can plan the second half of my life, welcome to middle age… Rick: Do you have a website? If so, what is the address? Cara: Yes. www.caralott.com Check it out it's FREEEEEE!!! Rick: Any last words to your fans? Cara: I just wanted to say thanks to all my loyal fans, many of whom I've had the pleasure of meeting in person over the years. Even though I'm not currently filming any more I still enjoy meeting new people and making guest appearances from time-to-time. So if you've read this far into the interview, are visiting southern California, and would like to meet me in person, give me a call! Love & Licks from Cara Lott. Writes Notes: Cara Lott may be older now, but she still has that slutty, wanton air about her. One of the true legends in the adult movie industry, Cara has never ran from her past, she embraces it! I appreciate, a long with her thousands of fans - this rare opportunity in talking with her. Cara is still the fantasy of many men across the world - including me! |
