Q-News Bust Got To Get Down To The Cumberland Mine Fayetteville, NC: A weekend prostitution sting resulted in the arrest of 29 people including a former deputy who ran for sheriff of Cumberland County and now works in neighboring Hoke County, authorities said. Cumberland County deputies staged the operation Saturday night and early Sunday, with undercover female officers posing as prostitutes and male officers pretending to be potential customers, department spokeswoman Debbie Tanna said. Deputies arrested 24 men on charges of soliciting for sexual intercourse and crimes against nature, and five women on charges of prostitution. The men included David Alan Stewart, 47, of Hope Mills, who was charged with soliciting for prostitution and a crime against nature. Stewart was one of three men who challenged Sheriff Earl "Moose" Butler in the Democratic primary this spring, finishing third, according to records from the county board of elections. Tanna said Stewart, who spent 20 years with the Cumberland County sheriff's department, now is a deputy for the Hoke County sheriff. She said the arrest alone could threaten his certification to serve as a law enforcement officer. "Any time you see a fellow law enforcement official get into any kind of trouble, there is a certain amount of disappointment, and yes, we were surprised," Tanna said. Q-Sex News Running With The Devil Los Angeles, CA: Jared Rutter of AVN.com reports that rock superstar Eddie Van Halen has joined forces with adult director Michael Ninn to write and perform two songs for the upcoming Ninn Worx feature 'Sacred Sin.' Although several big-name rappers have contributed material to XXX movies, Van Halen is probably the first major rock star to lend his name to an adult project. Van Halen told AVN.com he's not bothered by possible criticism. "I'm working with a friend, very simple. I like his work," he said. "Michael Ninn is like a Spielberg to me: the imagery, the way he makes things look, just… sensual." "We hooked up, I ended up doing the music, and it's some whompin-ass shit. I think it's the best work he's ever done, and me too. And more to come." "Eddie is from Amsterdam, born and raised, and his interpretation of sex and music are all in one, so it wasn't a big step for him," Ninn told AVN.com in an exclusive interview. He and Van Halen, he said, have been friends for "a couple of lifetimes, it seems like. It started out as him ringing me up to work on some music together. One thing just led to another, and it ended up, I had this movie in mind. We would sit at the piano — he has two grand pianos in the house — and play and talk all night long." The project came to life as a result of "the things we talked about: life in general, imagery and the power of imagery. Sometimes as he'd play I'd walk around the estate and the story kind of came to me while I was there." The Van Halen songs in 'Sacred Sin,' are 'Rise' and 'Catherine' a remix of the theme from Ninn's 2005 movie of the same name. "One of the things that Eddie really, really liked," Ninn said, "was the theme from 'Catherine.' He did a remix, it still carries the melody, but it's got a 'Kashmir' / Led Zeppelin kind of feel to it now. A very, very powerful piece of music." Ninn Worx will release 'Sacred Sin' on September 13, distributed by Red Light District. The two-disc set will contain music videos for both Van Halen songs. "They're pretty powerful," Ninn said, calling his friend "an incredible performer who really comes to life when the cameras are on. He's a showman." Q-News Bust Very GQ Bust Buffalo Grove, IL: A 51-year-old woman was charged with prostitution at a Buffalo Grove massage salon. Yon Hui Cha, who told police her home address is in Springfield, Va., was arrested at the GQ Spa, 1105 Weiland Road, and charged with prostitution, a misdemeanor, police said. The Buffalo Grove Police Department had been conducting surveillance of and making covert visits to the GQ Spa almost since it opened a year ago, Cmdr. Michael Soucy said. "Members of the business community and the public," alerted police to suspicious activity at the spa in the Creekside Commons shopping center on the northeast corner of Deerfield Parkway and Weiland Road, Soucy said. Cha was arrested after "initiating sexual contact with an undercover police officer," Soucy said. She was released on a recognizance bond and is scheduled to appear in court August. 7 in Waukegan. Cha also was charged with violating a village massage establishment ordinance. The ordinance specifies "what you can and cannot do at a massage place," Soucy said. Police have not charged the owner or operators of GQ Spa with any crime. "No evidence has been found of a ... connection between Ms. Cha and the owner of the establishment," Soucy said. Police authorities did not know how long Cha had been working for the spa. The spa owner refused to be interviewed by the police, Soucy said. "No one really is cooperating," he said. The police reported Cha was found guilty of "keeping or frequenting a bawdy house" in Fairfax County, Va., in October 2004. She was sentenced to almost six months in jail, but the sentence was suspended. She was fined $200, authorities said. In a prepared statement, Buffalo Grove Police Chief Steve Balinski said he appreciated the members of the community who provided information that led to the arrest, he promised the Police Department will thoroughly investigate any complaint of known or suspected illegal activity in the village. The woman answering the telephone later at GQ Spa said the spa was closed but would open the next day. Another day in Buffalo Grove. ~ $2.00 Bob ![]() ![]() 7/25/2006
Q-News Bust Massage Parlor Crack Down Ventura, CA: The businesses even advertise in the local newspaper. But what goes on inside these businesses is anything but legal, said Ventura County Sheriff's Department Sgt. Mike De Los Santos. Three massage parlors in Thousand Oaks and one Camarillo home were searched as part of a crackdown on parlors suspected of doubling as brothels. Though officials are not sure if all the suspected brothels are connected, the roughly 35 "massage technicians," who worked at the various businesses often moved among locations, De Los Santos said. Though only one arrest was made, others could come, De Los Santos said. "It's a large operation," he said, standing outside one of the massage parlors on Thousand Oaks Boulevard, just beside a dentist's office. "It shows that if it's here, it's everywhere." The Sheriff's Department has been getting complaints about the parlors for years and started an investigation six months ago, De Los Santos said. Another parlor in Westlake Village was raided last month. Deputies searched the Oriental Health Center at 1459 East Thousand Oaks Boulevard, Suite A, and arrested owner Gui Yun Wang, 42, of Camarillo, on suspicion of conspiracy to commit prostitution and keeping a house of ill fame. Also searched was New Life Acupuncture at 253 Lombard Street, Suite B, and HWA Rong Acupuncture Acupressure at 951 S. Westlake Boulevard, Suite 200. Another business that has since moved was searched, as well as Wang's Camarillo home. The masseurs will be cited if they do not have massage licenses. No clients were arrested. Though no Ventura County sheriff's deputies did any undercover work, an outside agency did do some at the Westlake Village location, De Los Santos said. He declined to say what agency that was. Other information came from "Johns," coming out of the businesses, he said. In addition to complaints, De Los Santos said, the whereabouts of the parlors were as easy to find as picking up the Ventura County Star. Advertisements in the classified section routinely boast such things as "new girls" and "free table showers." The VC Reporter also advertises such services. Star Publisher Tim Gallagher said the paper accepts advertisements from businesses with a legal license, but at times, the language of the advertisements has to be toned down. If the business is deemed illegal, the advertisements are pulled, he said. "If we are battling for the First Amendment, and it's a legal business, we'll accept their ads," Gallagher said. De Los Santos said the illegitimate businesses take away from the bona fide masseurs trying to make a living. More scrutiny will be given to masseurs and business when they apply for licenses, he said. Though the searches were limited to Thousand Oaks, such places exist all around the county, he said. At the parlors raided, the procedure would usually entail a client asking for a massage and paying about $60 for it, De Los Santos said. The client would then initiate something more, sometimes including full intercourse, and give a large tip on top of the massage rate. This came as little surprise to the business owners around the parlors. De Los Santos said the quality of the parlors depended on their location. Some were small and quaint, others had six rooms and lavish decorations. "That place," he said, referring to the one in Westlake Village, "looked like a five-star hotel." "Five-star!' Q-Sex News You Beat You Penis! Riga, LATVIA: A man who cut off his own penis in a drunken bet had it stitched back on by Latvian doctors, the first such operation in the country's history. While heavily under the influence of alcohol, the 30-year-old made a bet with his friend for 1000 lats ($2360) that he would cut off his penis. He was brought to hospital bleeding severely. "We have had a few cases with penis traumas, when it was half-cut or damaged, but this is the first time that it was totally cut off - and brought to hospital in a plastic bag," said Microsurgeon Aivars Tihonovs from Gailezers hospital in the Latvian capital, Riga. The operation lasted three and a half hours as doctors had to sew six nerves back together. "The first operation of this kind in the world was carried out in 1977, and it is still very rare," Tihonovs said, adding that such surgery was sometimes needed after bomb explosions. The surgeon said that he was proud of his work but also "really angry that he (the patient) did it to himself." Q-Sex news Where's Waldo? Gainsville, FL: The owner of Cafe Risque, who wants to open an adult bookstore in Waldo, filed suit against Alachua County alleging that regulations do not provide enough places for sex shops and are thus unconstitutional. Jerry Sullivan of Colby Cheese Corp. is seeking monetary damages and injunctions to prohibit the county from enforcing parts of its comprehensive plan, said his attorney, Gary Edinger. "It alleges violation of First Amendment rights with two principal claims - the first is that Alachua County does not provide enough sites for adult entertainment and the other is that with this particular kind of business, adult bookstores, there is no evidence that they cause any harm," Edinger said. "We thought we would give the county a chance and work within the system. This is a use that, aside from moral objections, is completely inoffensive." The suit was filed in federal court in Gainesville. County Attorney Dave Wagner said one of the first goals will be to determine the number of sites available for such shops. "When we adopted the new land-development regulations, we made a conscious effort to identify usable sites for sex businesses," Wagner said. "The first factual issue we'll have to resolve is whether or not our analysis is correct or their analysis is correct on how many sites are available. Hopefully, we can do that in an efficient manner that doesn't cost a bucketful of money." Many Waldo residents are opposed to the shop, expressing it most recently at a County Commission meeting about two weeks ago. Sullivan owns the Cafe Risque restaurant in Micanopy, which features nude dancing. He has filed for a land-use change to the county's comprehensive plan to turn the former home of Bobby's Hideaway, a bar just north of Waldo on U.S. 301, into an adult bookstore. Various legal rulings say counties must provide zoning to allow adult businesses. However, counties can limit the locations. Several existing adult businesses were grandfathered in when the county enacted a new comprehensive plan and land-development regulations in recent years. The shop would sell DVDs, videos, magazines and books. It would be take-out only with no in-store viewing, Edinger said. Also, no dancing or other forms of live entertainment will be done in the store, Edinger said. Waldo residents have told county commissioners they suspect dancing was planned. According to the Metropolitan Police Department's Narcotics and Special Investigations Division raided an alleged brothel on Barracks Row twice over the past two weeks. Q-Sex News Tampon Maniac Groningen, AMSTERDAM: Police in the Northern Dutch city of Groningen are investigating a man who rummages though rubbish bags in search of used tampons and sanitary towels. The 40-year-old local man is particularly interested in tampons used by students and young women, a police spokesperson said. The fetishist has been active for at least the last six months and has been regularly spotted searching through garbage outside student dorms. It is not known what he does with the items he collects. He has left letters for several of his 'victims'. Citing the interests of the investigation, the police spokesperson refused to disclose the contents of the letters, but said they included a play on words. Only one female student has lodged a criminal complaint so far, but it is expected that two others will come forward shortly. Police hope to be in a position to detain the man shortly for harassment and threatening behavior. Opening and rummaging through other people's garbage only carries a fine. This is not the first time the man - dubbed the 'tampon maniac' by the Dutch media - has been active in Groningen. He regularly collected tampons a few years ago but stopped after a "good talk" with police. He took up his strange hobby again about six months ago. It is not known how often he goes out looking for tampons, but the police spokesperson said he is "very active." Police plan to send him to professionals to investigate his "extremely deviant behavior" once they have sufficient grounds to arrest him. "It is not known what he does with the items he collects." Q-Sex News Summer Reruns Framingham, MA: A Framingham hooker offered to have sex with an undercover cop Tuesday for the cost of her cable bill, while a second hooker said she would do it for $20. Elizabeth Badmington, 42, and Patricia Spencer, 28, pleaded guilty yesterday in Framingham District Court to prostitution. Badmington was sentenced to seven days in jail, and Spencer was sentenced to two, and both were credited for the night they spent in police custody. The arrest came after several complaints of prostitutes, specifically Badmington, working near 73 Hollis St., Deputy Police Chief Craig Davis said. At one point, Badmington introduced Officer Lenny Pini to Spencer and said they could use her apartment at 73 Hollis St. for sex. She then made an offer to Pini, a member of the Street Crimes Unit. "During a conversation, Badmington also agreed to have sex with the officer if he was willing to pay her cable TV bill," said Davis. "The officer then motioned to his backup officers, who swooped in for the arrest." In an affidavit filed in court by Pini, he said police have received complaints about the hookers for the past two weeks. Pini said, while in plainclothes, he walked by 73 Hollis St., and Badmington motioned for him to come over to talk to her. "She asked me what I was doing," said Pini in his report. "She stated, 'You want to have some fun, take a walk with me.'" The pair walked toward the Store 24 when they encountered the 6 foot, 201 pound Spencer of 105 Irving St., Pini wrote. "She (Badmington) said 'You want to fuck? She'll take care of you,'" said Pini. "Spencer (then) stated that she would take care of me." Spencer said it would cost the undercover officer $20 to have sex. Pini asked if Badmington was going to take part, but at first she said she couldn't because she had to "take care of someone else," but she said the couple could use her apartment. Badmington then changed her mind, Pini said, and offered sex for payment of her cable bill. Both were arrested by the second officer at 10:12 p.m., and charged with prostitution. Q-Sex News Bent Out Of Shape Duluth, MN: Duluth police issued a citation Thursday night after watching a live contortionist onstage at a troubled historic theater, an act the officer says violated a new state law on adult entertainment. The citation was issued on the only recent night that adult entertainment was offered at the NorShor Theatre in downtown Duluth. "We're back to being just a bar for now," said Jim Gradishar, a Duluth adult bookstore owner who also is managing the bar business in the NorShor, which is owned by Duluth physician Eric Ringsred. Gradishar said he believed the Thursday night act was not in violation of the new state law that prohibits adult entertainment within 500 feet of any residence or 2,800 feet of any church or school. The law, which Gov. Tim Pawlenty signed in May is expected to be challenged in court. "She wasn't stripping," Gradishar said of the contortionist. "I turned my back for a minute and I heard the officer say, 'That's it,' and he started writing the ticket. None of my customers saw anything sexually explicit. She had clothes on." Gradishar described the contortionist as "a really flexible person. She could touch her heel to her forehead." Gradishar must appear in court to face the charge. The citation was issued to Gradishar by city licensing officer Steve LaTour. Duluth Police Chief Roger Waller confirmed the citation, saying the NorShor operation will not be "grandfathered" in to avoid the new state law. "We had information that they were going to try something and, when officers arrived, that sure enough was the case," Waller said. "They somehow had the impression the law doesn't apply to them. But it does." City officials say the new statute applies to the NorShor because of the theater's proximity to residences. Downtown businesses and city leaders have blasted the move by NorShor management to offer adult entertainment. Some have called on Ringsred to sell the landmark art deco property to a private, nonprofit foundation so it can become a quality venue for live music and an integral part of nightlife in the "Old Downtown" quarter. But Ringsred hopes that after repeated failures at finding a successful reuse for the NorShor, a high-class burlesque will itself help to revitalize the shabby district, which has been slow to reverse a longtime decline. Q-Sex News Higher Learning Stone Mountain, GA: School administrators were shocked to discover that a DeKalb County middle school's Web site included a link to a porn site. Readers using the Stone Mountain Middle School's Web site could find the link on the site's student resources section. The section includes links to educational sites such as the DeKalb Public Library, the Merriam-Webster Dictionary and NASA. Among the 36 links was a link to a porn site called Black Girl Magazine. Black Girl Magazine was a legitimate magazine aimed at middle- and high-school girls, according to founder and publisher Kenya Jordana James. James said it never contained any pornography. James is a senior at a local high school who has won numerous awards for her magazine. But she allowed the rights to the domain name to lapse. Earlier this month, someone on the Caribbean island of Curacao picked up the rights to the name for a porn site. Q-News Bust Lotion Application Business, That's A Good One! Boca Raton, FL: Located in a nondescript two-story office building, La Place was listed as a "manufacturer representative for cosmetics and/or lotions." But detectives say it's advertisements in adult magazines such as "Xcitement" and "Adult Fun 411" feature scantily-clad Asian women and suggest a different kind of operation. Boca Raton Sgt. Jeff Kelly said police exposed La Place as a brothel, where employees engaged in sexual activities with clients in exchange for money. La Place's owner, Norman Pyecha, 69, four employees - Elizabeth Bedregal, 33, Jessica Beleno, 31, Sari Anne Johnson, 40, and Carmen Zapata, 31, were arrested Monday on prostitution-related charges. In addition, police arrested a 51 man, after he left La Place and charged him with purchasing the services of a prostitute. According to reports, police received an anonymous tip last July about the prostitution operation at La Place. Customers would pay $40 to $80 to enter the store and then were taken to a back room, where they were told to "get comfortable." The caller, who said he used to be a customer, said La Place was run by Pyecha and Thianthong Mung McCollough, who went by "Pam." McCollough would stash used condoms in soda cans to hide evidence in case police arrived. Kelly said police began careful surveillance of the business and discovered evidence in a Dumpster, including used condoms and empty tubes of body cream. Police also found torn-up pieces of paper that appeared to be prostitutes' schedules.Detectives also monitored a Web chat room topic on Independentgirls.com, where some users described the sexual acts they experienced at La Place. One man wrote that he always left La Place with a "huge smile" and recommended a woman there who provided particularly exciting service. Kelly said prostitution is not a victimless crime and presents a major health issue. "These women have unprotected sex during the day with multiple partners," he said. "And then the men go home to their wives, significant others, who are really the silent victims." Police were finally able to crack down on La Place more than a year after the investigation began. Kelly said detectives were simultaneously investigating another "adult massage parlor" down the street. "When you hit one, the other ones tend to dry up," he said. "The customers get frightened." Kelly said three other prostitutes employed at La Place and 42 customers will also be charged. He said prostitution tends to decrease when police target the "johns." "If you take away the demand for these places, there won't be a supply," he said. Sgt. Jeff Kelly... what a genius, give me a break, go solve a real crime! ~ $2.00 Bob ![]() 7/06/2006
