But those particular items were likely bought fraudulently on a stolen card, Transport Minister Kevin Falcon said Monday. NDP MLA Guy Gentner, of Delta North, demanded that Mr. Falcon explain to the legislature why someone in his ministry used a government credit card to spend $300 at Honey Gifts, an emporium specializing in "adult sex toys, lubricants and lingerie." Pullman, WA: Pullman police arrested 24-year-old Garth Flaherty on 12 charges of 2nd degree felony burglary and one felony charge of 1st degree theft after a search of Flaherty's home and vehicle reaped nearly 100 lbs of evidence in the form of women's underwear. An apartment complex employee saw a suspicious man in the laundry room at the 800 block of N.E. Providence Court in Pullman. The employee had heard of various theft reports of women's underwear and recognized the man as a possible suspect. Shortly afterward the employee received a complaint from a female resident at a nearby apartment complex stating that her underwear had been stolen from her laundry. Police estimate as many as 1500 pairs of panties had been collected, costing as much as $2200. Police had received a dozen complaints from 5 apartment complex's in the area. The suspect lived in the same area. A database of criminal records in Washington State and found Flaherty has no previous arrests or convictions. Scottsdale Police said 36-year-old Jonathan Simanton was staying with family Tuesday when he allegedly fondled his nephew's teenage babysitter. According to investigators, Simanton admitted to touching the victim inappropriately. They also said there were indications he was under the influence at the time of the incident. He was booked on $4,500 bail in a Maricopa County, Arizona, jail. Simanton is a little person who played an elf in "Surviving Christmas" and an Oompa Loompa in "Epic Movie." So far, police say they've stolen thousands of dollars worth of lingerie. Victoria's Secret models show (Panty's) them off during their hot and steamy fashion shows, sexy bras costing up to $50 a piece and panties that go for over $10 each. Police said the undergarments have become a popular target for thieves. Just this week a group of bandits hit the Victoria's Secret inside the Newport Mall in Jersey City, stealing almost $15,000 worth of bras and panties right out of rollout drawers. "Fifteen thousand dollars, God they must look good under their clothes," shopper Loretta Hardy said. "When did they know that was missing? I mean that's a lot of merchandise." Police said the bandits planned their raid carefully, using aluminum foil to line the bags they put the bras and panties in. It's no secret; it's a tactic thieves use to prevent the sensors in anti-theft systems from going off. "The male and female walk in," said Det. Mark Inzinna of the Jersey City Police Department. "The male takes booster bag out, puts it on the floor and the female fills it up." This as a third person distracted the cashier. Police said this is the second time in three months thieves have hit this Victoria's Secret. "They have very few staff members there and if they're being distracted they're not going to see it's a matter of a couple of minutes," Lt. Christine Petersen said. Limited Brands, the company that owns Victoria's Secret, released the following statement: "... We are aggressively working with local law enforcement authorities to address this incident and deter future such thefts." That same day one of their other stores at Newport, Express, was also hit by thieves. Police said there's a popular market for stolen merchandise. Q-News Bust Pee Dee, Bo-Bo, Fee Fi Fo... Marion County, GA: First Wednesday night sheriff's deputies raided a Pee Dee Spa. An arrest was made and Thursday night there's more charges. Wednesday night at the Bo-Bo Spa in Marion, an employee offered to perform a sex act on a police informant. Now 49-year-old Lian Ji Wen is charged with prostitution, drug and alcohol charges. The sheriff's department said they were suspicious of illegal activities for the past few months, the investigation is still ongoing and more arrests could be made. Officials said this was a huge win for their department and Marion County. "What upset a lot of people in Marion County is this is the first thing you see when you come through the City of Marion is this Bo-Bo Spa, and it's just an eye sore," said Sheriff Mike Richardson, Marion County. "We don't like it, we want it gone." Sheriff Richardson said they took the spa's business license away and they hope it will get revoked. He also said the sheriff's department has not been able to reach the Bo-Bo spa owners at this time. The deputies seized just over $7,600 along with speed, prescription drugs, close to $7,000 dollars worth of alcohol and an illegal gambling machine. Under the original plan, there would be a 25 percent tax on adult video stores, escort services, adult movie rental and pay-per-view subscriptions and on magazines, books and other adult materials. The measure would also charge "adult cabaret" performers an annual $400 occupational privilege tax. Bunch stressed that the Senate version is only temporarily on hold. Q-Sex News I'm So Glad We Had This Time Together Los Angeles, CA: Carol Burnett has filed a $2 million copyright infringement lawsuit against 20th Century Fox, claiming her cleaning woman character was portrayed on the animated series Family Guy. The U.S. District Court lawsuit, which was filed Thursday, said the Fox show didn't have the 73-year-old comedian's permission to include her cleaning woman character, Charwoman, in an April 2006 episode. The episode shows Charwoman as a porno-shop maid, and it uses what the lawsuit called an "altered version" of Burnett's theme music. The characters in the show also perform Burnett's signature ear tug, the lawsuit said. Besides copyright infringement, Burnett alleges 20th Century Fox violated her publicity rights. The studio said it was surprised by the lawsuit over what amounted to about an 18-second scene. "Family Guy, like The Carol Burnett Show, is famous for its pop culture parodies and satirical jabs at celebrities. We are surprised that Ms. Burnett, who has made a career of spoofing others on television, would go so far as to sue Family Guy for a simple bit of comedy," said 20th Century Fox Television spokesman Chris Alexander. Their goal is to show local businesses that they mean business, literally. "We just want to show the merchants we're still here and stronger than ever," explained Chuck Foster of the Caliente Resort and Spa. Business is booming at Spa in Land O' Lakes. The clothing-optional facility is just one of several that plan to flex their buying muscle during the two-dollar bill buying campaign. There are seven nudist communities in Pasco with thousands of residents. The largest three are Caliente, Lake Como, and Paradise Lakes Resort. They say they bring in nearly 100,000 tourists each year. "I think they want to show the economic impact they have on the local community, that they are here spending a lot of money. They buy their gas, eat in restaurants, buy their food, and want people to know that," said Kathy Dunkley with the Pasco Chamber of Commerce. This is not the first time the nudists have launched a two-dollar bill campaign. More than 20 years ago, they flooded local businesses with the unusual currency to demonstrate their buying power. Hungry Harry's on Land O' Lakes Boulevard says the nudists have boosted their bottom line, and they already appreciate having the communities nearby. "They have the money and are willing to spend it, and that's the best customer there is. They like to have a good time and good food, so I'm excited," said owner Harry Wright. The store's loss prevention officer suspected he might be trying to steal things when he walked out of the dressing room a bit later without the merchandise. She went to check the dressing room and found the magazines and a man's shirt, plus panties and a bra. She also found a thick substance she believed to be semen on the items and the dressing room mirror. The merchandise, valued at $36 was destroyed except for the shirt, which police kept as evidence. Q-News Bust Bonita Solicitation Bust Bonita Springs, FL: An undercover detective posed as a "working girl," last night in a Bonita Springs sting that ended in the arrest of 14 people on charges of solicitation of prostitution. They are at the Lee County Jail today. Lee County Sheriff's Office detectives were assigned to the Rosemary Park area. "The sting was a response to several complaints indicating innocent women were being propositioned in the community," Sgt. Larry King said in a report released today. The focus of the operation was to arrest men soliciting women for sexual acts in return for money. During the two hour operation late last night, the undercover officers were solicited by men to perform various sexual favors in return for cash amounts ranging from $10.00 to $80.00 dollars. Q-Sex News Justice Is Not Blind Albany, NY: A federal civil rights lawsuit says that a Saugerties cop gave traffic tickets to a teenage girl, then threatened to "make her life miserable," unless she had sex with him. The suit, filed Friday in U.S. District Court, seeks $1.25 million in damages from the Village of Saugerties and Officer Tyrone Chrisjohn. Chrisjohn, 35, was charged last year with raping two teen-age girls while he was in uniform. One of those accusers filed the civil suit last week, accusing village officials of turning a blind eye to Chrisjohn's conduct. The accuser is now 18. She's identified in court papers only as Jane Doe. A line in the lawsuit says her name and address are withheld "in light of the allegations, and the fear for personal safety." The teen's lawyer, Joseph O'Connor of Kingston, said she was traumatized by Chrisjohn's conduct. She was taunted at school, O'Connor said, enduring "everything you can imagine." Chrisjohn's accused of having sex with "Jane Doe" in August 2005, according to the lawsuit. He's also accused of having sex with an underage girl in 2004 at a public park in the northern Ulster County village of 5,000, according to an indictment unsealed in County Court last summer. The indictment named four accusers: Two who accused him of rape, one who accused him of ticket-fixing and a fourth who said he tried to grope her. Q-News Bust Boynton Beach Boinking Parlor Bust Boynton Beach, FL: Police raided two alleged brothels posing as massage parlors after more than a month of surveillance, arresting 11 women employees while building cases against about 65 men who frequented the businesses, some for 10 years, authorities said. 'They're kind of Boynton's dirty little secret, the massage parlors,' said Sgt. John Bonafair, who led the operation with the Community Action Team. 'They're not something neighbors complain about. They're not something visible. [The raids] make a statement: The city isn't going to put up with this.' Police raided Healing Massage Center Inc., 444 W. Boynton Beach Blvd., and Boynton Massage Therapy, 410 E. Boynton Beach Blvd. Carrying search warrants, police knocked on the doors, went in and made the arrests. At Healing Massage Center, three women sat on a couch. One was crying as Officer Widy Jean read her rights in the parlor's lobby, burning incense filling the room. The rooms seemed decked out for professional massages with tables, towels and posters of the human body's muscular system on the walls. The state Department of Heath was also along for the raids to determine if the 'massage therapists' arrested had licenses. The owners of both places did, officials said. During the surveillance, police found mostly older men going to the parlors. Some were obsessive about it, Sgt. Frank Danysh said. Men would go to one location and if it was busy, go to the other. "It's like a McDonald's,' Danysh said. The 11 women were charged with deriving support from the proceeds of prostitution and racketeering. Nine of them were charged with unlicensed practice of a health care profession. Charges for the customers were referred to the State Attorney's Office. Police normally arrest prostitutes and their customers in street stings where undercover officers pose as johns or prostitutes. A few months ago, undercover police tried to go in and get a massage at the businesses and were turned away because the women thought they were police, Bonafair said. Boynton Beach police officers spoke with Boca Raton police officers on intelligence methods because that department had a successful raid of a 'lotion application' business in June. Boca Raton police raided La Place, at 7300 N. Federal Highway, where 42 men were charged with solicitation of prostitution. Many ended up in the Prostitution Impact Prevention Education class, offered in the county to men and women without arrest histories, to learn the health hazards of prostitution. Founder Gail Levine said the program, in its seventh year with about 1,800 graduates, 99 percent of them men, has only had eight rearrests. "Police found mostly older men going to the parlors." The FBI identified the man as Samuel Oscar Gonzalez, 20, of Lakewood, Wash. He was charged in federal court with simple assault, a misdemeanor. It happened on the redeye Monday morning from Seattle to Minneapolis. The woman was headed back to college. Near the end of the flight, the FBI said Gonzalez sat next to the woman as she was trying to sleep. He touched her, which she described as spooning, lifted her shirt and then got up and left. The victim told her boyfriend she was told Gonzalez is a Northwest employee. "I know she was really upset, just kind of confused about what's going on, what's happening," said the victim's boyfriend, Mark, who asked to be identified only by his first name. Northwest said that Gonzalez was an equipment service worker, a category that includes baggage handlers, but said he was not working at the time. They released a statement that said, "The NWA employee has been suspended pending a review of the incident. Northwest is cooperating fully with law enforcement authorities on this matter." Washington, DC: A woman accused of running a prostitution service catering to men in the Washington area is threatening to sell her list of 10,000 clients to pay for her defense. Deborah J. Palfrey, 50, of Vallejo, Calif., was indicted on federal racketeering charges this week in U.S. District Court in Washington. She did business in the area under Pamela Martin & Associates, advertising in newspapers, on Web sites and in the Yellow Pages. Federal authorities said the call-girl service, which had been operating since 1993, hired college-educated women to cater to men in hotels and homes in Washington and its Maryland and Virginia suburbs. In 13 years, the service employed 132 women, all at least 22 years old and who had other jobs, and generated about $2 million in income, they said. "Ms. Palfrey adamantly disputes the government's claims of illegal behavior," according to her legal defense Web site, where she began seeking donations after the government raided her home in October, seizing more than $400,000 in cash and stocks, according to court records. "It is an unfortunate fact of life that funds will need to be generated to counteract the present injustice," the Web site says. As a result, "consideration is being given" to selling Palfrey's phone records dating to 1993. The records include the phone numbers of about 10,000 clients in the Washington area, according to Palfrey's attorney, Montgomery Blair Sibley. Palfrey had no comment on the charges, Sibley said. He told The Washington Post that his client's "legal escort service" was almost exclusively a cash business. He said that the women who worked for Palfrey were given 1099 tax statements each year, listing their earnings as independent contractors, and that Palfrey accurately reported her yearly income on federal tax returns. According to the affidavit, the women told investigators that Palfrey urged them to work for her at least three nights each week and charge their clients up to $300. It said the prostitutes would send half of their fee to Palfrey using money or postal orders, illegally laundering the money so it would be hard to trace. Palfrey was convicted in 1991 for operating an illegal prostitution business in California and served 18 months in prison, according to the affidavit. She "started her current illegal prostitution business while still on probation," the affidavit says. Palfrey is scheduled to make her initial appearance in the criminal case at the District of Columbia federal courthouse next Friday. The U.S. attorney's office in the district, which is prosecuting the case, said it had no comment on the client list or the possibility that Palfrey will make it public. The indictment charges Palfrey with violating the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act and with three counts of interstate travel in aid of racketeering and one count of conspiracy to launder money. Quebec Judge Louis Legault sentenced Andree Rene, 44, to 30 more months in prison, crediting her with 18 months for the time she has already served. Rene must also undergo psychological counselling for alcohol abuse and aggression while she's in prison, and is prohibited from owning guns or combustible materials for 10 years after being released. The sentencing ends a six-year saga that started in April 2001 when Rene was dating Guillaume Pungu. The couple had spent an evening of drinking and arguing when Rene poured fondue fuel over Pungu's body while he was sleeping. He awoke when Rene set him on fire, scorching his abdomen and genitals. Pungu suffered third-degree burns and was hospitalized for a week, followed by a month of rehabilitation.
